Well I just got back about an hour ago, put together some food so I have a lunch tomorrow, started a load of laundry and talked to the roommates for a bit. I’ll try to sum up my couple days off. In one word: Awesome. Sunday night after work I hit the gym real quick did Outlaw, and then booked it down to Richmond getting there about 12:30am. After talking for a few minutes and realizing how tired we were it was time to pass out. Monday we hit the ground running with a full day of stuff. Hitting up a few NPS such as Maggie Walker the park that my friend works at, and seeing the Confederate White House and the Museum of the Confederacy. This is what happens when Park Rangers get together I guess. After a full day of site seeing, some great Richmond food and a tour of the city the day was over. Today started off saying goodbye and having breakfast at a place called The Dairy Bar. Really cool place and a top notch omelet. Then on my own I hit up the Virginia State House, a very pretty building and I was off. Headed back I had one last detour that I couldn’t pass up. A stop off at Outlaw Crossfit, Rudy was really cool. I got there a half hour early and he was doing some work while his daughter hung out. We talked for a bit I changed and then it was time for the 4:15 WOD. A little strength and then the actual WOD and I was toast. I can tell that I’ve been working out on my own for two months. It’s amazing how much harder you push when you’re with other people, the 95F heat may have had something to do with it too. I capped out without finishing the work, but it was still a great day. Sunday was 11 months since I started Crossfit, hard to believe that in this short time I’ve lost over 125 pounds, and gained amazing confidence in my fitness and lifting abilities. Before leaving I got a picture with Rudy, and it’s hard to believe that this is what I look like now.
And this was a short 11 months ago:
A big thanks to Rudy, I hope that I can get back down for another WOD with you and the crew really enjoyed myself today. A second big thank you to the man for programming The Outlaw Way, the blog has been my guidebook to self programming these last two months. While I often feel like I’m talking a shot to the boys when I try to figure out how to make the program work for me, my abilities have grown in leaps and bounds and not a week goes by that I’m not getting some new PR in either Snatch or Clean and Jerk. I owe you more than this short post can express, big thanks for the work and it was great to meet you in person.
